Clay Bennett says the Sonics are NOT FOR SALE!?

If he cannot take the team out of its lease...will that change his mind. It seems that there is now a group of buyers that hold some weight.

Steve Balmer and the CEO of Costco are two in this new group. They have promised a $300 million dollar investment to a new or remodeled stadium.

So...would Bennett sell the team if he cannot move the team for two years?

It seems he wants a team sooner than two years.Clay Bennett says the Sonics are NOT FOR SALE!?
I dont know..

according to what ESPN pointed out..

if you visit the Sonics website..Seattle is one word you wont find anywhere. maybe they updated it but it was like that a week ago.Clay Bennett says the Sonics are NOT FOR SALE!?
Unfortunately for the city of Seattle and ultimately for the NBA the Sonics are probably going to move because they were bought by a group of rich men who are deciding they don't care about what millions of fans want and the tradition of the Seattle Sonics.

So no, Bennett will not sell the team. As disappointing as it is it looks like David Stern and Bennett will successfully move another sports franchise. Well after all, look at all the success Charlotte and Memphis have had...both are below the 22nd ranking in attendance numbers this season.
I'm a resident of OKC and let me tell you, the Sonics are heading this way. It appears you are a Seattle fan, and I feel for you about losing the team. Its happened to me (born and raised in Houston and had to watch the Oilers go). But the fact of the matter is, the fans in Seattle don't want to pny up the dough.

This past week, resident voted yes to renovating the Ford Center in downtown OKC, the last step Clay Bennett wanted done before moving them here. After next year, the lease will expire, the ford center will rennovated and the will be playing in Oklahoma. Probably not what you wanted to hear.
clay bennett is a freaking r-tard who is trying to rape seattle and its fans.

bennett probably didnt even figure that someone would want to take on his ridiculous offer that he thought no one would want. now that people actually are willing to front that kind of money, he can't use the excuse that seattle doesnt care, or the fans dont care, enough about the team. instead he's being a stubborn brat and not selling the team.

i wouldnt put it past bennett to be patient enough to move the team after two years. he has no intention of keeping the team in seattle, its just a matter of whether they move immediately if they get out of the lease, or if they move in a couple years.

this whole situation is really sad, and shame on david stern for putting his hands in his pockets and pretending to sympathize with seattle while sucking up to the owners. this is a team with a 41 year history in seattle, and stern seems content to let it leave while he tries to push the league into europe.

i for one hope that some kind of workable situation happens where the sonics get to stay in seattle.
You know man from the very beginning I always thought that one way or another this guy Bennett will do everything he can to relocate the Sonics to Oklahoma even though Seattle will fund the renovation of Key Arena. It will be very tough for the NBA to lose the Seattle market and tough for Durant and his market exposure if they were to relocate in Oklahoma City.
