Empty building but not for sale?

I live in Cumbria, UK and there are a couple of empty house that obviously need alot of work doing on them but are not for sale. We are intending to move and would love to buy one of these houses but when they go on the market they go for over asking price and we can't afford to compete. Is there anyway we could find out who owns there empty houses and would it be okay to contact them and offer to buy it off them??Empty building but not for sale?
these type of houses(if not to be demolished)are usually repossed and go to the local auction place.get in touch with the council or local auction place.good luck.Empty building but not for sale?
The land registry should be able to tell you who owns the property and there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to make an offer directly to them.

However, if they are part of a group of properties it is more likely that they will be looking for someone to take the lot.
Try the Land Registry.

Yes, it's perfectly ok.
I'm not sure how it works in the UK but here in california all you do is contact city hall and tell them the address and they will give you the contact information.
