Why do they call it a garage sale if the garage is not for sale?

Are u high??Why do they call it a garage sale if the garage is not for sale?
Because people who have a garage usually put their junk inside it in case of bad weather for people to come check it out and buy it, as opposed to a yard sale. yeah.shipdit.Why do they call it a garage sale if the garage is not for sale?
How do you know the garage isn't for sale? Did you ask?
hmmmmmm i dont know. Does it matter ? You losing sleep over it because i really dont think there is an answer to this.lol
Because they are typically the structures housing the goods for sale...

Yard sales are typically held in a yard...

It's crazy...
Come here so I can clobber you, cuss.
the things IN the garage are for sale...
because usaully the stuff thats being sold were stored in garages. thus garage sale..
It's the same as when I see an ad that says ';Lingerie half off';, and when I get to the store all the clerks are fully clothed. It's false advertising, that's what it is.
because originally people cleared out their garage and sold all the stuff at a ';garage sale';
Wrong, everything at a garage is for sale. You just didn't make the right offer. Give the owner enough money and they'll sell you anything.
It is just the way they advertise it, Like a yard sale, they aren't selling the yard but they are selling items outside in the yard.

bettyk
Because....ummm....shoot! That's a damn good question!
they call it yard sale, the yard is not for sale either,I don't know
Not sure skippy but my mother had a garage sale and sold the house also
BECAUSE PEOPLE HAVE KIDS AND NAME THEM JIM,THEN SEND EM TO SCHOOL TO LEARN HOW TO ASK DUMB QUESTIONS LIKE WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOUR DRUNK AND HAVE NOTHING TO DO?
