How do I go about finding out who owns a certain property I am interested in purchasing that is NOT for sale?

By going to your county recorder's office..They have those on a computer for public recordsHow do I go about finding out who owns a certain property I am interested in purchasing that is NOT for sale?
since its NOT for sale..u can just go knock on the door and ask..or look in their mailbox to get a name...ooo that would be one illegal and rebellious activityHow do I go about finding out who owns a certain property I am interested in purchasing that is NOT for sale?
in south africa we go to the registrar of deeds. since the property is immovable and is on the land go to the offices of the registrar of deeds [i do not konw what you call them where you live] but it should be the person you go to when you need to register a real right over property or contact a lawyer. he should know
You did not indicate where the property was generally located. If I had a town and state I could have helped further.

You should contact your county tax assessors office, they will have the information you need. They may also have a website w/ free online Database for searches.
Check the property tax records to find the owner. The county govenment where the property is located has the records, and it is public information!
You would have to search the public record data base, either in your city and sometimes housed online. If anyone buys/sells a home or land it is public record of the purchase. So you would have to go as far back as to when the current owners purchased it, to see who they are. This will vary from town to town, but will probably be very time consuming. You might just want to try to contact them directly, and introduce yourself, see if they are interested in selling. But if they arent there's not much you can do.
Go to your court house to open records, thats what i did here in TX could be diff. there though good luck
